The Bible

"When I shall enter the invisible world, I do not expect to find things different from what the word of God represented them to me here. The voice I shall then hear will be the same I now hear upon the earth, and I shall say, 'This is indeed what God said to me; and how thankful I am that I did not wait until I had seen in order to believe.'" (Adolph Monod)

"The Bible was written in tears and to tears it will yield its best treasure. God has nothing to say to the frivolous person." (A. W. Tozer)

If we would devote our energies to obeying the Word of God as found plainly in the Bible, most of us could stop praying for 95% of the things that we pray for.

The things in the Bible aren't true because they're in the Bible—they're in the Bible because they're true.

"The study of God's Word, for the purpose of discovering God's will, is the secret discipline that has formed the greatest characters." (J. W. Alexander)

The Bible is God's window through which we look into His eternity.

"The Bible as a book stands alone. There never was, nor ever will be, another like it. As there is but one sun to enlighten the world naturally, so there is but one Book to enlighten the world spiritually May that Book become to each of us the man of our counsel, the guide of our journey, and our support and comfort in life and in death." (A. Galloway)

"Some people like to read their Bible in Hebrew, some like to read it in Greek; I like to read mine in the Holy Ghost." (Smith Wigglesworth)

"The Disciples were not losing time when they sat down beside their Master, and held quiet converse with Him under the olives of Bethany or by the shores of Galilee. Those were their school hours; those were their feeding times. The healthiest Christian, the one who is best fitted for Godly living and Godly labors, is the person who feeds most on Christ. Here lies the benefit of Bible reading." (Evangelist)

"The LORD is My Shepherd" (Psalm 23)

"Who is it that is your shepherd? The LORD! Oh, my friends, what a wonderful announcement! The LORD God of Heaven and Earth, the Almighty Creator of all things, He who holds the universe in His hand as thought it were a very little thing—He is your shepherd, and has charged Himself with the care and keeping of you, as a shepherd is charged with the care and keeping of his sheep. If your hearts could really take in this thought, you would never have a fear or a care again; for with such a shepherd, how could it be possible for you ever to want any good thing?" (H. W. Smith)

"When you have read the Bible, you will know it is the Word of God, because you will have found it the key to your own heart, your own happiness, and you own duty." (Woodrow Wilson)

"It ain't those parts of the Bible that I can't understand that bother me, it is the parts that I do understand." (Mark Twain)

"The Bible will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from the Bible." (D. L. Moody)

"The Scriptures teach us the best way of living, the noblest way of suffering, and the most comfortable way of dying." (Flavel)

"We may compare the Bible to the Old Testament Tabernacle in the wilderness with its three courts. The outer court is the letter of the Scriptures; the inner court, or holy place, is the truth of the Scriptures; the holiest place of all is the person of Jesus Christ; and only when we pass the inmost veil do we come to Him." (A. T. Pierson)
