God is not obliged to send revival because we pray,
but He has bound himself by Covenant promise to send revival, to heal our
land, when we humble ourselves, and pray, and seek His face, and turn from
our wicked ways (2 Chronicles 7:14). And He has also promised to "pour
waters on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground" (Isaiah 44:3).
How thirsty are we for revival?
When revival starts, it always starts with the
fear of God coming upon the people.
Revival always costs something. To have revival,
the soul must be surrendered and crucified.
God is the God of revival, but we are the human
agents through who the revival comes.
In all the history of the Church, revivals came
because the people believed without question in the inspiration and
authority of the Word of God.
Our churches
today are more social clubs than testimonies to the power of the Gospel of
Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God. We no longer gather in quiet
sanctuaries to meet God, but in noisy auditoriums to meet each other, to
fellowship together, to share the latest news and gossip, and with
everything, including the music, calculated to please the people - with
little concern of whether or not God is pleased. There are ice cream
socials, fellowship meals, fun & games, something for everybody - and
almost nothing for God.
Where is the sound of agonizing sobs in the
sanctuary as holy hands are lifted to a holy God, pleading for the
outpouring of His Holy Spirit to heal our churches, our teen-agers, our
wayward saints, our neighborhoods, our cities, our nation - and first and
foremost to heal us? May God have mercy on us for all the souls that have
gone to an eternal hell because we're more concerned with fellowshipping
together and having a good time than we are about doing what our Lord
Jesus Christ has commanded us to do!

"The world will never believe in a religion in
which there is no power. A rationalized faith, a socialized church, and a
moralized gospel may gain applause, but they awaken no conviction and win
no converts." (Samuel Chadwick)

"Our land is filled with violence today and
many stretch out their hands to the sun in cult worship. This continues
despite the staggering amount of sermons on gospel radio and Christian
television each day and the proliferation of tracts and Bibles. Yet
millions could not care less. They are walking to their eternal doom
unafraid!
"Many of our popular preachers feel so
confident in their degree scarves and Geneva gowns that they never think
to reach for the tattered, sweaty, mantle of Elijah. But degrees do not,
in themselves, bring miracle ministry. By 'miracle' I mean the way
vicinities and even cities are awakened from their sleep of death by a
divine invasion.
"Hark to the tramping feet of doomed souls
as they march to a never-ending eternity. How can you sleep comfortably,
preacher?"

"Bible bookstores are now papered with
announcements of Christian concerts instead of revival meetings." (Virginia
Stem Owens)

"I do
not understand Christian people who are not thrilled by the whole idea of
revival. . . . If you want a perfect exposition of
1 Corinthians 1:25-31, read books on revival." (David Martyn
Lloyd-Jones)

"We live
in a generation that has never known revivalGod's
way.
True revival changes the moral climate of an area or a nation.
Without exception, all true revivals of the past began after years of
agonizing, hell-robbing, earth-shaking, heaven-sent intercession.
The secret to true revival in our own day is still the same. But
where, oh, where, are the intercessors?" (Leonard Ravenhill)
