Based on the Miracle Ministry of John G. Lake
How
to Be Filled with Spiritual Power details how John G. Lake
(see
below)
obtained the spiritual power for healing that he had, and shows how you
can obtain the same kind of spiritual power.
The book follows the spiritual journey that
Lake took, and lays out in 10 chapters the steps that you must
also take to receive the kind of spiritual power that enabled John G.
Lake to heal so many who were desperately sick
(see below).
Any Christian, and especially any church
congregation, can develop the spiritual power needed to heal the sick
and set the captives free, just as the author and his wife did
(see
below). All you or they have to do is be willing to
take the same spiritual journey that Lake did. If you or a church
congregation will do that, the sick will begin to be healed, and the
captives will begin to be set free.
It's as guaranteed as the Words of Jesus:
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in
Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he
will do, because I go to My Father."
How
to Be Filled with Spiritual Power also contains John G. Lake's consecration
to God, important dates in his life, and several photographs of Lake,
his family and ministry team.

John G. Lake

For five years in South Africa,
John G. Lake
displayed the greatest spiritual power seen since the days of Jesus —
not only for others but also for himself. While assisting doctors during
a bubonic plague outbreak, he was asked why he had not contracted the
disease since he had used none of their medical protection. He said, "it
is the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus." To demonstrate, he had them take
live bubonic plague germs still foaming from the lungs of a newly dead
person and put them in his hands and then examine the germs under a
microscope. They were dead.
Lake later moved to Spokane, WA, and established a healing ministry that
was so effective that a prominent medical doctor said about it, "Rev.
Lake's ministry of divine healing has made Spokane the healthiest city
in the world." (See Public Testimonies of
Healings in Lake's Ministry below.) Several years later he moved to Portland, WA, and did the
same there. And what Lake did, what his ministry in Spokane did, any
Christian and any Christian congregation can also so.
Public Testimonies of Healings in Lake's Ministry

Reverend R. Armstrong, a
Methodist minister, of N2819 Columbus Avenue, healed of a sarcoma
growing out of the left shoulder three times as large as a man's head,
was healed in answer to prayer.
Reverend Thomas B. O'Reilly of 430 Rookery Building, testified to
being healed of fits so violent that when stricken with them it required
seven policemen to overpower and confine him in the hospital. Of his
instantaneous healing and perfect restoration to health through the
prayer of faith.
Baby Agnes Young, N169 Post Street, healed of extreme
malnutrition. Patient at the Deaconess hospital for nine months, from
the time of birth until her healing. She weighed six-and-a-half pounds
at birth and at the age of nine months, only four-and-a-half pounds. One
evening, when one of the ministers from Reverend Lake's Healing Rooms
called to minister to her, she was found in the dead room. The nurse,
believing her to be dead, had removed her to the dead room. He took the
child in his arms, praying the prayer of faith; God heard and answered.
He removed her from the hospital and placed her in the hands of a
Christian woman for nursing. In six weeks she was perfectly well and
strong. The father and mother arose to corroborate the testimony. They
are both members of Dr. Lake's church.
Mrs. Chittenden, pastor of the Church of the Truth at Coeur
d'Alene, Idaho, testified to her healing of cancers of the breast; one
breast having been removed in an operation and the other breast becoming
likewise affected with cancer. She was healed of the Lord in answer to
prayer.
Mrs. Everetts, 1911 Boone Avenue, testified to her healing of
varicose veins. She had suffered from them for thirty-eight years. The
veins were enlarged until they were the size of goose eggs in spots.
Under the right knee there was a sack of blood so large that the knee
was made stiff. She had exhausted every medical method. After being
ministered to at the Healing Rooms for a short period, she was entirely
well and the veins are perfectly clear.
Mrs. Constance Hoag, Puyallup, Washington, broke her kneecap. A
section of the bone protruded through the flesh. She wrote requesting
that the ministers of the Healing Rooms lay their hands upon a
handkerchief in faith and prayer and send it to her, in accordance with
Acts 19:12. This was done. She applied the handkerchief to the knee and
in fifteen minutes the pain had gone, and in an hour the bone had
returned to place and was perfectly healed.
Mrs. Walker, Granby Court, was an invalid at the Deaconess
hospital from internal cancer; after an exploratory operation was
pronounced incurable by the doctors. She also had a severe case of
neuritis. Her suffering was unspeakable. She testified to her healing
and of her restoration to perfect health, the cancer having passed from
her body in seven sections. Since then, many have been healed through
her prayer and faith.
Mrs. John A. Graham, E369 Hartson, a nurse and hospital matron,
was operated on for fibroid tumors. The generative organs were removed
and at a later date, she was operated on a second time for gallstones.
The operation not being a success, she was eventually left to die, and
when in the throes of death and unconscious, she was healed by the power
of God in answer to prayer of one of the ministers called from the
Healing Rooms. The organs that had been removed in the operation regrew
in the body, and she became a normal woman and a mother.
Mr. Asa Hill, a farmer from Palouse, Washington, testified that
he had been a rheumatic cripple for fifteen years and was instantly
healed at a meeting conducted by Mr. Lake, through prayer with the
laying on of hands. The meeting was held at a theater at Moscow, Idaho.
Mrs. Wolverton was injured in a Great Northern railroad wreck and
was awarded large damages by the court. Physicians testified her
injuries to be such that motherhood was impossible. After her marriage,
the physician's testimony was confirmed. She was healed in answer to
prayer and gave birth to a son and since has given birth to twins.
Miss Jennie Walsh, S116 Fiske Street, had a disease of the gall
bladder, which became filled with pus. Her physicians insisted on an
immediate operation to save her life. Mr. Lake laid hands upon her in
prayer at eleven o'clock p.m. Ten minutes afterward her pain ceased, the
pus emptied from the bladder naturally, and she was entirely healed.
Personal & Ministry Healings

Healed of Head Pains
This was a quick and unexpected healing that had me
thinking about it for several days, trying to determine why it happened.
It took place during our Sunday morning service. Our congregation was
meeting in a school auditorium at that time.
I was teaching on some aspect of having faith for
healing, because I remember saying that it was interesting to me that Mark
16:18 did not say anything about praying for the sick, it simply said,
"And these signs will follow those who believe in my name: . . . they will
lay hands on the sick and they will recover."
I was walking up the center aisle as I said that, and for no particular
reason I reached out and laid my right hand on the side of a young man's
head as I passed him. I continued up the aisle for a ways and then went
back to the front. That's all there was to it.
About ten minutes after the service, however, the young's man mother,
Gwen, came up to me and said that her son, who had been sitting with a
friend, told her that he had been suffering from a blistering headache all
morning, but that when I touched the side of his head, the pain instantly
left him. Her son was about 22 at the time.
Now you can understand why that healing kept me thinking for several
days.
-
I did not know he had head pain,
-
He did not know I was going to lay my hand on his head (heck, I
didn't know I was going to do it),
-
He did not ask that I pray for his healing,
-
Ergo, I did not pray for his healing,
-
He did not have faith at that moment to be healed of that head pain,
-
And since I did not know he needed healing, neither did I.
Sometimes the Holy Spirit does things that just throws your doctrines
right out the window. Guess that's why He's supposed to lead and
we're supposed to follow. Too bad so many of us try to do it the other
way, and then can't figure out why nothing seems to work. (Harold J.
Chadwick)
Child Healed of High Fever

My wife, Beverlee, and I came home from a meeting late
one evening, and found that our a three-year-old son, Thomas, had a high
fever. He wasn't only burning with fever, he was extremely lethargic. We
took him into our bedroom to pray for him.
We prayed for a few minutes, and then I laid my hands on his forehead
and commanded the fever to leave. Nothing happened. We prayed for a
while longer, and I laid my hands on his forehead and again commanded
the fever to leave. Again nothing happened.
We both prayed silently for a while, and then the incident about Paul
praying for the young man who fell out of the window and was picked up
dead, came to my mind. In Acts 20:10, it says that Paul fell upon the
young man and embraced him. It seemed to me that the Holy Spirit was
telling me that there was something about the amount of contact that
Paul made with the young man's body.
Going with what I believed was being said to me, I picked up Thomas
and placed him on my lap and put my arms around him and held him close.
I then again commanded the fever to leave him.,
Almost faster than I can write this, his body cooled and he wiggled
out of my arms and crawled to the center of the bed and started jumping
up and down. The change in him was so fast and amazing, that we almost
couldn't believe it. We even tried to quiet him down so that he wouldn't
hurt himself. Then we decided that maybe he was jumping up and down
because he'd been healed, which he had, of course. He also had so much
energy, that we had trouble getting him to go back to bed and to sleep.
Eventually we did and he did, and my wife and I spent some time in
prayer praising and thanking the Lord, and trying to figure out what
happened. But at the time we couldnt come to a conclusion as to why
the added body contact was needed, and I don't recall the Holy Spirit
ever leading us to pray for anyone that way again.
Over the years, however, we noticed that healing took place much
easier when our hands were laid directly upon the area of the body that
was affected. We assumed that this had to do with transference of power.
Luke 4:1 says that Jesus went into the desert full of the Holy
Spirit, and Luke 14:1 says that Jesus came out of the desert in the power
of the Spirit. Immediately after that He began to do miracles,
which is a word that is more properly interpreted as works of power.
When the woman who was hemorrhaging touched the hem of Jesus robe,
power went out of Him and healed her (Mark 5:29-30).
In Acts 10:30, Peter told Cornelius that God had anointed Jesus of
Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and He went around
doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil.
So its the power that went out from Jesus that healed the sick and
cast out demons. It's the same with us today. Therefore, it's most likely that the reason I had to make full body
contact with my son was that I had little power at that time, and needed
the contact to transfer as much power as possible to drive out the
fever. (Harold J. Chadwick)
Healed of Emphysema

Although Bill had been delivered from cigarette smoking
and nicotine addiction, he increasingly suffered from emphysema - having
trouble breathing and often coughing.
The night he was healed of
emphysema, we were holding our Sunday evening Worship and Healing Services
in a school auditorium.
I had just finished ministering to a young man who had epileptic
seizures when over to my left I saw Bill approach Beverlee and ask her to pray
for him - his emphysema had acted up all through the worship and
teaching. Beverlee laid hands on his chest and began commanding emphysema to come out of him in the name of Jesus Christ. By now we almost
always administered healing by assuming it was a spirit causing the
problem and commanding it to come out.
Bill almost immediately began coughing violently and struggling for
air. As I watched what was happening, I could see Bill's face turn red and
then purple and his breathing get increasingly difficult as Beverlee kept
commanding emphysema to come out of him. (We had many times
experienced the ailment immediately manifesting when we commanded the
spirit causing it to come out, so we were no longer concerned or daunted
when it happened. See Mark 9:25-26.)
About the time it seemed as though Bill couldn't handle another cough
or get any more air, he let out a truly violent cough, almost a roar, and
you could literally hear air rushing back into his lungs. And almost
faster than I can write this, he was breathing normally - something he
hadn't done in a couple of years. Many in the congregation had been
praying for Bill's healing for some time, so there were many shouts of joy
and praise to the Lord. (Harold J. Chadwick)
